City of Port Orchard, 4th of July Fireworks

Posted on July 1, 2024

4th of July

As we head into the week of the 4th of July we wanted to remind everyone of City policies regarding fireworks use and offer some tips for a safe & fun 4th.

  • Sales Permitted: June 28 to July 4, noon – 11pm
  • Discharge Permitted: Unincorporated Kitsap County + Port Orchard: July 4, 11am ~ 11pm.

Please be courteous to your neighbors and mindful of the effect that fireworks can have on individuals, and pets by limiting firework discharge to legally established days and hours.

  • Parks: Fireworks are prohibited in all Kitsap County + City of Port Orchard parks.
  • Celebrate with Professional Displays: Residents are encouraged to attend organized public fireworks displays rather than discharging their own fireworks for a safer and more enjoyable experience. Port Orchard’s Professional display is the Fathoms O’ Fun Fireworks Show on July 6, 10pm.
  • Save 911 Calls for True Emergencies: During the July 4th holiday, 911 dispatch can get overwhelmed by reports of loud or illegal fireworks. These calls may delay or block others with life-threatening emergencies from reaching 911. Please understand that law enforcement and fire personnel will be focused on emergency events. Protecting lives and prioritizing property are top priorities.

Examples of appropriate reasons to call 911 include:

  • Someone is injured from a firework.
  • There is a fire started by a firework.
  • You witness someone attempting to start a fire with a firework.
  • You witness someone assaulting someone with a firework.

THANK YOU for following these guidelines and we wish you all a happy, and safe, 4th of July!
