By June 30, 2021, the City of Port Orchard is required to complete an update to the City’s Shoreline Master Program (SMP), which regulates development and land use within the City’s shoreline areas. The City has been working to address several areas of needed revisions, including potential sea level rise along the downtown shoreline, and outdated and inconsistent policies that may conflict with other City code and plans. In response, the City has drafted proposed policy and regulation changes which are now available for public review.
This informational notice has been sent to you because you either own a property/business on the City’s marine shoreline (Sinclair Inlet) or on the shoreline jurisdictional portion of Blackjack Creek or Square Lake, or your property/business is near these areas. No action is required of you, but you are encouraged to review the available draft documents, including the City’s proposed regulatory changes, at: https://www.portorchardwa.gov/2019-2021-shoreline-master-program-periodic-update/. Additional information on the SMP update is also available here.
On January 13, 2021, at 6:00 pm, the Planning Commission will review the draft regulatory changes proposed to date. No action will be taken, but the public is welcome to join the meeting by Zoom and ask questions or provide comments. The Zoom meeting information is below:
