How do I apply for a Concealed Pistol License?

CPL renewals during the COVID-19 closure

The Port Orchard Police Department will be accepting renewals and replacements for City of Port Orchard residents only. If you are not a City of Port Orchard resident your application and check will be returned to you.

Renewals can be issued within 90 days before or after the expiration date.

  • Renewals – $32 (within 90 days before the expiration date)
  • Late renewals – $42 (within 90 days after the expiration date)
  • License replacements – $10

Please mail the completed application, a copy of your WA state identification card, current CPL, and a check written out to the City of Port Orchard to:

How to get a Concealed Pistol License (CPL)

  1. Complete the Concealed Pistol License Application
  2. Go to the POPD customer service desk during business hours [link to hours] to get fingerprinted (original CPL only) and pay your fee
  3. If approved, your CPL will be completed within 30 days

Requirements

  • You must be at least 21 years old
  • You must be a US citizen or be a permanent resident alien
  • You must reside in the City of Port Orchard
  • You must have picture ID (a Washington State Driver’s License or ID card is preferred)

Fees

  • Original CPL: $49.25
  • Renewal: $32
  • Late Renewal: $42 (within 90 days of expiration)
  • Replacement: $10 (for lost or damaged permit)

Out-of-state Military Renewals

Members of the armed forces who cannot renew their license in-person because of their out-of-state assignment may renew via mail/email (within 90 days of expiry). To do so:

  1. Complete the Concealed Pistol License Application. Scan or copy both your ID and military orders and return to POPD via mail or email.
  2. Mail your fee to the address below
  3. Note: A license renewed under this subsection takes effect on the expiration date of the prior license and is valid for a period of one year.
