Racism cannot be tolerated in our community

Mayor Rob Putaansuu

As your elected Mayor, I acknowledge the unfortunate fact that racism and inequity exists in our community.  The City Council, our management team, and I all take seriously the responsibility to foster anti-racism and directly address racism and inequity in our policies and practices.  We support changes that eliminate systemic racism, inequity, and other disparities to build a stronger and more equitable community.  The City of Port Orchard seeks opportunities and deliberate actions to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion for all our residents.  Solutions to inequities can be as unique and diverse as our community members who have been historically excluded from full benefits and participation.  We pledge to improve our practices and work to make our community a more welcoming and inviting place.

Sincerely,

Robert Putaansuu, Mayor
