SIDNEY ROAD SAFETY & SIDEWALKS: NON-MOTORIZED IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

ATTENTION: Parents & Guardians of Sidney Glen Elementary

Project Overview
Construction for the Sidney Road Non-Motorized Improvements Project will occur throughout the summer and into the start of the school year! This project aims to create a safer, more connected corridor along Sidney Road – improving access for students, families, and the entire community.

Project Goals

Connecting Communities:
•Continuous sidewalks along Sidney Rd SW.
•Improved connections to schools, neighborhoods, and the planned Kitsap Transit Park & Ride.
•Enhanced access for walking, biking, and transit in a mixed-use area.

Increasing Safety:
•New crosswalks, Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), bike lanes, and ADA-compliant sidewalks.
•Fewer conflicts between pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles.

Upgrading Infrastructure:
•A modernized stormwater conveyance system.
•Extension of the sewer force main to meet current and future needs.

PROJECT LIMITS:
Sidney Road SW – between SW Hovde Road and the SR-16 overpass.

PROJECT DURATION:
Construction Start Date: August 2025. Expected
Completion: Early 2026 (Weather Dependent).

The Sidney Road Non-Motorized Improvements Project is supported with funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. The CCA puts cap-and-invest dollars to work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs, and improving public health. Information about the CCA is available at www.climate.wa.gov.
